Because Buchanan Shoals is private club, when you arrive for a quail hunt, it’s like having you own private quail plantation. Like most game birds, the Bobwhite is shy and elusive. When threatened, it will crouch and freeze; relying on camouflage to stay undetected, but will flush into flight if closely disturbed. Birds will go solitary or pair up early in the year. Family groups (coveys) grow throughout the year and are the largest in the winter. The quail is a great bird to hunt, with a flight pattern that can easily challenge any hunter.

his is North Carolina Bob White Quail hunting at its finest. Bring your dog for a half-day, a full day or longer. Put out birds yourself or we will do it for you at no charge. Guided hunts are available, using dogs provided by the guide. Dressing of your kill is also available. Our hunting shack overlooks two large fields ideal for field trials.
