Quail Forever announces Charlie Payne of Gibsonia, Pennsylvania, as the organization's new regional representative in Ohio. The recent graduate of Virginia Tech will aid "The Habitat Organization" in starting and servicing Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever chapters and members in the region to enhance the organization's wildlife habitat conservation mission.
A graduate of Virginia Tech with a degree in Natural Resources Conservation, Payne will work with the 30 Pheasants Forever chapters, 3 Quail Forever chapters and 5,500 Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever members in Ohio in raising and expending funds on wildlife habitat and conservation education, as well as work with local, state, and federal natural resource agencies on behalf of those chapters.
"Charlie is a man of many talents, and they all relate to his passion for the outdoors and conservation," says Matt Holland, Senior Field Coordinator with Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever. While an undergrad, Payne held internships with the Natural Resources Conservation Service and The Nature Conservancy. He's an avid upland and waterfowl hunter, and shot competitive trap and skeet while at Virginia Tech. "We are extremely excited to bring Charlie's energy on board to meet the challenges of maintaining and improving wildlife habitat in Ohio," Holland said.
"I'm looking forward to expanding Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever's presence in Ohio," Payne said, "Expanding membership, expanding fundraising opportunities, expanding the number of acres in conservation programs and expanding local wildlife habitat projects. This will take some creative thinking, but upland conservation in Ohio deserves it."
A Virginia native, Payne and his black Lab, Dixie, will make their new residence in Hilliard, Ohio. He can be reached at (614) 632-8393 and CPayne@quailforever.org.
Ohio is home to 30 Pheasants Forever chapters, 3 Quail Forever (Pheasants Forever's quail division) chapters and more than 5,700 Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever members. Visit the Ohio Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever website for more information.
