The California Department of Fish and Game (DFG) will hold an upland game hunting clinic Sept. 25 at Peace Valley near Lebec in Southern California.
The all-levels clinic will cover information on hunting quail, chukar and pheasant, including regulations, huntable lands, habits and habitats of upland game, hunter responsibilities and ethics, appropriate firearms and ammunition, and game care and cooking. Instructors will also discuss hunting solo vs. hunting with others, and hunting with and without a dog. A dog demonstration will be held onsite.
The clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The cost is $45 for adults. Students 16 years and younger are free but must be accompanied by an adult. DFG’s Advanced Hunter Education Program will provide all necessary class equipment.
Space is limited and participants must register in advance at www.dfg.ca.gov/huntered/advanced. After registering, participants will receive an e-mail with a map to the facility and a list of items to bring.
Peace Valley is located along Interstate 5, approximately 30 miles south of Bakersfield and 60 miles north of Los Angeles.
