TPWD Projecting Average Quail Season
Oct. 17, 2008AUSTIN, Texas - Late quail production due to dry and hot range conditions has set the stage for an average hunting season, according to Texas Parks and Wildlife Department biologists.
Quail hunting in Mexico: Discover some of the last truly wild quail hunting in the northern hemisphere. On an average day, you and your hunting companions will flush approximately 12 to 15 coveys of Bobwhite quail during an afternoon hunt. Covey sizes vary from roughly 20 to 30 quail per covey.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture today announced 4.3 million acres were accepted for enrollment in the federal Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) as a result of the August CRP general signup. Quail Forever says the first CRP general signup in four years shows a continued demand for the program.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today released the final draft of a new crop insurance agreement, announcing $6 billion in savings has been created through this action. Pheasants Forever is pleased that one third of these savings will be invested in Farm Bill programs, including increasing Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) acreage to the maximum authorized level of 32 million acres nationwide.

Quail Forever Leads the Way for CRP & Bobwhites in Washington, D.C. - Jun. 01, 2010
Quail Forever plans to hold a series of meetings with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and elected officials in Washington, D.C. during the week of June 14th. The catalyst for the visit is to strengthen the implementation of thinning and burning practices as landowners attempt to manage their Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) lands for quail habitat. Joining Quail Forever for the visit will be representatives of the Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies, Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Tall Timbers, and Covey Rise.
